Sequence Verified I.M.A.G.E. Consortium cDNA Clones

Geneservice will end sequence your clones before they are sent to you - you only pay for the clones that BLAST match with the I.M.A.G.E. id you requested. This risk free option saves you time when you get your clone and removes the chance of receiving one of the wrong clones that are inherent in all copies of the I.M.A.G.E library.

  • Place your order conventionally but follow the Sequence Verified I.M.A.G.E. clones link
  • Geneservice will extract DNA, end sequence your requested clone(s) and BLAST the output
  • Successfully verified clones (>95% identity after quality clipping) will be shipped to you and we will include a BLAST report in the packet
  • Customers will be notified in their delivery about the clones that fail verification, no charge will be made for failed clones. In the unlikely event that all clones in the order fail verification the order will be completely cancelled at no charge and customers will be contacted by email.

Image Consortium

The I.M.A.G.E. consortium make high quality, arrayed cDNA libraries available to the community. Each clone has been given a unique I.M.A.G.E. ID to facilitate reference. The sequence, mapping and expression data has been placed in the public domain. These clones are available free of any royalties and are available to anyone agreeing with their guidelines. Mammalian Gene Collection

The Mammalian Gene Collection (MGC) is an NIH initiative to generate full-length cDNA resources. Geneservice is now able to supply these full-length cDNA clones. Click here for more information.

  • Fully-sequenced clones have been sequenced throughout the coding region of the gene, by the IMAGE consortium.
  • Partially sequenced clones have gone through a single round of sequencing either the 3’ or 5’ coding region of the gene, by the IMAGE consortium.

Image Consortium 8-digit clones

Due to the high levels of redundancy in the human and mouse MGC collections, clones from those species arrayed for 5' sequencing since October 2002 (production plates LLAM, LLCM, and LLKM) will no longer be routinely available. Please note the following changes, effective October 2002:

  • All human and mouse MGC clones have an 8-digit IMAGE identifier to distinguish them from clones arrayed prior to this date, which have 5, 6, or 7 digit identifiers.
  • Only human and mouse clones sent out for full-insert sequencing are available from all IMAGE distributors on a routine basis (as before). To see if a particular clone is included in the completely sequenced set, please check ftp://image.hudsonalpha.org/image/outgoing/ND_available_clones.txt.
  • Human and mouse MGC clones not sent out for full-insert sequencing and which are non-redundant (one whose sequence is unique, i.e. no other clone from the same species contains an identical sequence) can still be ordered directly from the IMAGE distributors, but will require additional processing time.

Geneservice will check if these can be obtained and if so, we will order them for you for our normal clone prices plus an Admin charge of GBP 25 per clones. Please be aware that due to the increased complexity in checking and eventually getting these clones, it will take a minimum of 3 weeks for an order to be processed.
