Search tutorial

Four examples are provided on how to use the DNABook™.
  1. From Accession number to DNA spot from the DNABook™.
  2. Locations of the spotted DNA can be obtained using the ´DDBJ´ Accession number:
    1. Access http://fantom2.gsc.riken.go.jp/ofc/database/search
    2. Enter an accession number (eg, AK036983) into the appropriate field, and a "DNABook™ Rearray ID" will be displayed.
    3. Open the DNABook™ to the appropriate page based on the Rearray ID, then locate the DNA on the page.

  3. From RIKEN CloneID to DNA in the DNABook™.
  4. Locations of the spotted DNA can be obtained by using a RIKEN CloneID:
    1. Access http://fantom2.gsc.riken.go.jp/ofc/database/search
    2. Enter an accession number (eg, 9930033A02) into the appropriate field, and a "DNABook™ Rearray ID" will be displayed. Clicking the link will access FANTOM2DB
    3. Open the DNABook™ to the appropriate page based on the Rearray ID, then locate the DNA on the page.

  5. From any keyword to DNA in the DNABook™.
  6. Locations of DNA can be obtained using key words:
    1. Access http://fantom2.gsc.riken.go.jp/db/search
    2. Enter key words into the "Keyword search for curated annotation" field.
    3. After the result is displayed, click "show as a text file".
    4. Displayed clone Ids in the text can be cut and pasted into the appropriate field at: http://fantom2.gsc.riken.go.jp/ofc/database/search and a DNABook™ Rearray ID will be displayed.
    5. Clicking the link will access FANTOM2DB

  7. From DNA in the book to gene name.
  8. Gene names can be searched using spotted DNA in the DNABook™.
    1. Access http://fantom2.gsc.riken.go.jp/ofc/CloneSet/index.html
    2. Select one plate ID (e.g PX01014) from the "plate ID" tab.
    3. To access the FANTOM2DB, a well co-ordinate can be clicked on (eg. "A1" button) if a plate image is displayed.
